Year of death
[edit]Where does 167 as his year of death come from? The article Inscription of Abercius refers to a work of Abercius which is dated 193; [1] dates the epitaph 190, [2] gives 200 as his year of death. Terminus ante quem is 216, when Alexander, son of Anthony died, the epitaph of whom is inspired by Abercius'. On the other hand, Abercius was in Rome when Marcus Aurelius was emperor and his age at the time of his death is given as 72. All this does not make the year 167 absolutely impossible, I was just curious about the source. --Proofreader (talk) 13:01, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
